Company description::
FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA January 31, 2004 – MPS announces dramatic advances in the development of it’s proprietary Computer Based Training (CBT) System with the introduction of their Presentationware® technology and USB Synchronizer®. Focused on the global impact of the maritime industry’s increasing concentration on training with the initiatives as the ISPS Code, the Code of Practice, US Maritime Security Act of 2002, and others, the company has advanced the timeline for the system’s testing and completion.

“These developments, in the evolution of our ‘Intuitive Training Experience’ program, are destined to take our training to the next level. And may well bridge the gap between compliance and safety and the “great unknown” in the years ahead” said Dr. Bob Sewak, Vice-President of Education and Training at Maritime Protective Services (MPS). “…maritime security, education and training – includes the protection of ships and ports from terrorism, at all levels – and, it is required of ship and port operators with the passage of the International Ship and Port Facility and Security (ISPS) Code. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the ISPS Code in a worldwide effort to address maritime security at all international ports and the security of ships engaged in international commerce. The ISPS Code has set strict standards for port and ship operators that must be achieved before 1 July 2004.”

“We are extremely pleased to make this announcement just as we conclude our inaugural, multi-course training at the Maine Maritime Academy, in Castine and at the Port of Portland in Maine. These two weeks, of classes for both Company Security Officer (CSO)/Ship Security Officer (SSO) and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) students and auditors, were filled with individuals from all facets of the industry, giving our curriculum and methodology a true test of performance against a wide range of interests and needs. The outcome was extremely gratifying and our scheduling of a series of open-enrollment courses for April and June is in the final stages of preparation”.
